I'm Mariska Virginia van Kasbergen, a professional makeup & hair artist working full-time in the industry since 2014. My work spans television, radio, commercial productions, brand campaigns, music productions and artists. From studio and set to on-location work, I create camera-ready looks tailored to the person, the production and the setting.
My career began at the international beauty houses at Schiphol, including DIOR, Armani, Hermès, Lancôme and YSL. Working across these brands gave me a strong foundation in makeup, skincare and fragrance. This was followed by various professional training programs, courses and masterclasses to further specialise in makeup and hairstyling. The overview can be found below.
I work with broadcasters, presenters, artists, production companies and business clients who need to look their best when the cameras start rolling. My strength lies in adapting easily to different productions, quickly understanding what each person or production needs, and making people feel at ease. What is a makeup artist?
A makeup artist is a professional who provides makeup for television, film, theatre, commercials, events, music productions, artists and editorial productions. The work ranges from natural HD looks and beauty looks to creative looks, character grime and SFX. Within the craft, training, specialisation and years of hands-on experience make the difference in level, expertise and rate.
What does a makeup artist do on set?
On set, the makeup artist handles make-up and hairstyling for presenters, artists, actors, and business clients. From HD-proof make-up adapted to camera, studio, and natural light to maintaining continuity and quick touch-ups between takes. Grime and special effects can also be part of a production. Hairstyling is a separate discipline that requires expertise and experience. I am specialised in both make-up and hairstyling.
Where do you work?
I am based in Hilversum, in the heart of the Dutch media industry, and work across the Netherlands and internationally. From television studios and film sets to commercial shoots, music productions, artists and corporate productions. For larger productions and longer bookings I work with a trusted freelance team.
